Student Research Day Celebrates 40th Year at Georgetown

The event featured 18 student presenters from six different BGE programs, all vying for a top placement in the oral and poster presentation competitions. Attendees from across Georgetown gathered in the Medical and Dental Building to hear how their peers are investigating the causes of neurodegenerative diseases, improving cancer screenings and treatment and much more.

Eduardo Peñalver Named 49th President of Georgetown University

Eduardo M. Peñalver, J.D., the president of Seattle University, a Rhodes Scholar and former dean of Cornell Law School, will begin his new role as the 49th president of Georgetown University on July 1, 2026.

Georgetown biomedical students as well as medical students will benefit from a stronger community and more interdisciplinary engagement as Biomedical Graduate Education’s (BGE) move into Georgetown University School of Medicine (GUSOM) brings the expertise, programs and prestige of both closer together, BGE leaders said following the July 1 transition.
