New Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Approved by Georgetown Board of Directors

The Georgetown University Board of Directors has approved the addition of a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program in Biomedical Graduate Education at the School of Medicine. The proposed program will now initiate the accreditation process.

Up to $51.7M ARPA-H Award Backs Georgetown University and Buck Institute Co-led ‘Super Team’ To Predict and Intervene in Harmful Protein Changes Before Disease Begins

A research “super team” co-led by the Buck Institute for Research on Aging and Georgetown University has received an award of up to $51.7 million from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to predict how disease-causing proteins misfold before irreversible damage occurs and use those predictions to develop novel diagnostics and treatments. The four-year effort is expected to lead to new ways of detecting, slowing and treating neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, with an initial focus on Alzheimer’s disease and Ewing sarcoma.

Eduardo Peñalver Inaugurated as Georgetown’s 49th President

Standing in front of his loved ones, the Hoya community, Jesuits and university leaders, and beneath the American flag and Georgetown seal, Eduardo Peñalver was officially inaugurated as Georgetown University’s new president. Peñalver accepted the office of the presidency on Oct. 9 in McDonough Arena. He was surrounded by his wife, two sons and parents, dignitaries including Nancy and Paul (SFS’62) Pelosi, university presidents, and community members watching online.
