Georgetown’s New Public Health Operations Center to Track Infectious Disease for 2026 World Cup

Led by microbiology and immunology professor Rebecca Katz, the Health Security Operations Center will track wastewater, air travel, social media and other sources of data to monitor possible outbreaks of diseases like measles, Ebola and dengue during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Georgetown Special Master’s Program Marks Over 50 Years of Transformative Pre-Medical Education and Community

As the Physios of the SMP’s 51st graduating class finish their final exams and dance the night away at their end-of-year “prom,” current students and some of the program’s nearly 6,000 alumni made time to speak about how their SMP experience has shaped their skills and self-confidence, their careers, and their impact in medicine.

Georgetown Researchers Show How Brain Rewires Itself To Enable True Multitasking

New research by Georgetown scientists shows how the brain rewires itself to automate learned tasks. The findings challenge a long-held understanding of how humans master complex skills, suggesting that true multitasking is really possible. Beyond offering encouragement to busy people that they really can do two things at once, the study also has important implications for the development of artificial intelligence capable of building on prior learning as the brain does.
