BGE Celebrates 10 Years of Biomedical Recruitment Collaboration with Washington College
August 1, 2025, marked 10 years for Georgetown’s alliance with Washington College, whose bachelor’s graduates have come to Biomedical Graduate Education (BGE) to study a variety of biomedical disciplines.
Founded in 1782, Washington College hosts a student body of about 1,000 undergraduates on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The college’s collaboration with Georgetown, which provides a 15% tuition scholarship to in-person BGE master’s students, began in 2015 to help Washington College alumni to pursue careers in clinical care or biomedical research. Since then, the affiliation has brought students to BGE master’s programs in Biohazardous Threat Agents & Emerging Infectious Diseases; Pharmacology; Systems Medicine; and Biomedical Science Policy & Advocacy, now offered as a concentration in multiple programs.
“Engaging students in the biomedical sciences is critical, particularly at this moment in history,” said Caleb McKinney, assistant vice president of master’s program administration and development at Georgetown University Medical Center. “We are thrilled to continue this relationship with Washington College, and to collaborate on innovative ways to support student career paths across scientific disciplines.”
Washington College Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program Co-Director Mindy Reynolds, who helped to develop the collaboration with Georgetown, said: “Georgetown and Washington College have created a valuable bridge to a wide range of postgraduate opportunities. We’re proud that so many graduates have shared how transformative and positive their experiences in the program have been, both academically and professionally.”
