Ph.D. faculty hooders are faculty who attend the School of Medicine Commencement Ceremony, sit on the stage, and hood the doctoral graduates. Each graduate typically asks a faculty mentor to be their hooder.
Reminder: There is NO bag storage at lineup. Please do not leave anything in White-Gravenor Hall. The lineup room may be locked after you leave.

How to Hood Your Graduate
Directions to White-Gravenor Hall
Faculty hooders report to White-Gravenor Hall, Room 211, by no later than 11:00 a.m. to line up for the Commencement Procession. Please allow time for transportation, traffic jams, parking, and walking to your lineup room.
Reminder: There is NO bag storage at lineup. Please do not leave anything in White-Gravenor Hall. The lineup room may be locked after you leave.
The instructions below will take you from Lombardi Circle (between Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Leavey Center) to White-Gravenor Hall. Or, you can navigate to White-Gravenor Hall with Google Maps.
- From Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, cross the street toward the Leavey Center doors. Turn left on the sidewalk, and follow the sidewalk all the way past the end of the Leavey Center.
- Turn right around the corner. Cross the plaza diagonally to the path between Arrupe Hall and the Reiss Science Building.
- Go down the stairs and through the scaffolding onto Red Square.
- White-Gravenor Hall is the gray stone building on your left. Use the ramp or stairs to reach the door.
Step-by-Step
1. From Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, cross the street toward the Leavey Center doors. Turn left on the sidewalk, and follow the sidewalk all the way past the end of the Leavey Center.
2. Turn right around the corner. Cross the plaza diagonally to the path between Arrupe Hall and the Reiss Science Building.
3. Go down the stairs and through the scaffolding onto Red Square.
4. White-Gravenor Hall is the gray stone building on your left. Use the ramp or stairs to reach the door.
Directions to the BGE Ph.D. Reception
The BGE Ph.D. Reception for Class of 2025-26 doctoral graduates and invited guests will be held in PwC Plaza, next to the Rafik B. Hariri Building (School of Business building).
