Rose Sharon Sunkins
2015 Hoyas for Science Recipient
M.S. in Pharmacology
What undergrad school are you from, and what was your major?
I attended Hampton University. I majored in Biology.
Why did you apply to Georgetown University?
I applied to Georgetown University because I believed that the graduate program would provide a gateway to many opportunities for me in finding a career and also help me build on skills that will be beneficial on campus as well as off campus.
What are you studying here at Georgetown University?
I am studying Pharmacology.
As a Hoyas for Science recipient, you were selected because your application to Georgetown “demonstrated a commitment to biomedical research and graduate studies at the Masters’ level.” What do you hope to accomplish here at Georgetown and/or what is your interest in biomedical research or graduate studies?
During my academic year here at Georgetown University, I hope to make connections with students and professors. I hope to make friendships while enjoying what the campus has to offer and bond with mentors to guide me down the right path to my career. My experience at the NIH this past summer promoted my interest in the research field. My interest centers around child health care and I want to find research that is related to children’s health. I believe I can benefit from the possible internal and external programs available through the school, based on it’s strong reputation.
Please share an interesting fact about yourself.
