Ayda is from Tigray, Ethiopia. Before coming to Georgetown Biomedical Graduate Education, she attended Marymount University.
How do you hope your graduate studies will build on what you learned as an undergraduate?
My graduate studies are helping me build on the strong foundation I developed as an undergraduate in biochemistry and molecular biology. While my undergraduate focused mainly on core laboratory skills and fundamental concepts, my graduate work allows me to deepen this knowledge through advanced coursework and independent research, strengthening my ability to study complex biological systems.
What experiences or goals led you to pursue graduate studies?
My undergraduate research experiences and interest in understanding disease mechanisms at the molecular level motivated me to pursue graduate studies.
Why did you choose your program at Georgetown BGE for your graduate studies?
I chose Georgetown BGE for its collaborative academic environment and opportunities for various biomedical research.
What advice would you give to future BGE students?
Seek out mentorship, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to ask questions or take on challenges early in your training.
