In-Person Commencement Ceremony
Georgetown University will host an in-person Commencement for the Class of 2021 at Nationals Park in Washington, DC, on Monday, May 24, 2021. There will be one ceremony for all graduate and professional programs at 5:00 pm EDT on Monday, May 24, 2021
at Nationals Park here in Washington, DC. The ceremony is expected to take no longer than two hours.
Graduates attending the ceremony in-person are invited to bring two guests. All attendees will need to adhere to DC public health and travel guidelines. Due to space limitation, students intending to graduate in August 2021 in our Master’s programs are included in the undergraduate ceremony on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 10:00 am EDT.
Ceremonies will be live-streamed on the Georgetown University Facebook page for graduates, friends, and family who are unable to attend.
Virtual Doctoral Hooding Ceremony
The Doctoral Hooding Ceremony will be live-streamed on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 11:00 am EDT on the Georgetown University Graduate School of Arts & Sciences Facebook page.
Virtual BGE Name Recognition Ceremony
The BGE Name Recognition Ceremony will be live-streamed on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 1:00 pm EDT on the Georgetown University Biomedical Graduate Education Facebook page.
While we hope it will be possible for you to wear academic regalia to the May 24th ceremony, it is not required to participate. If you still wish to purchase regalia or any other commemorative items, the Georgetown University Bookstore is now taking orders for shipment.

In regards to Diplomas for the Class of 2021
In May, students who have applied to graduate for May 2021 will receive an email which will include the mailing address for the diploma for review. Students are asked to confirm that the address will be valid for July and August or to provide a new address where the diploma can be sent for those months–including addresses outside the U.S. Note: Address updates made in MyAccess are not applied to the graduation application.
Due to Covid-19, it will not be possible to pick up May 2021 diplomas in person.
The diploma dimensions are 17 inches (43 cm) wide by 14 inches(35.5 cm) high. The diploma is written in Latin and an English translation is provided with your diploma. Diploma frames are available at the Georgetown University Bookstore for shipment.
