What community service activity has meant the most to you?
This past year I worked as an Alum Service Corps member at a high school. Our main mission was not only to expose students to outreach opportunities, but also to act as a support system for them. This role helped me to realize that although service can be exemplified through picking up trash on the corner of the street, organizing meals for food banks, and the like, the act of simply being there for others and listening to them is an integral aspect of service as well.
Why did you choose Georgetown for your graduate studies?
I chose Georgetown University because of the holistic education and research focus. The Integrative Neuroscience curriculum provides a well-rounded foundation in the field and helps to prepare you for various career paths. I also sought a research-driven program to expand on my experience in my undergraduate university.
What do you want to do after earning your degree?
I hope to pursue a Ph.D. in Neuroscience. My ultimate goal is to work in academia and conduct behavioral research focused on sleep.
What advice would you give to future BGE students?
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Everyone comes in with a different academic background, so don’t be nervous to ask questions or admit you don’t know something. Making mistakes is how we learn and grow.
